|Toronto is a vast city brimming with infinite possibilities. It’s just the kind of city that you’ll want to enjoy during the first month of the New Year, because a New Year means new opportunities. So, whether it’s a great adventure, a grand escape, or a gentle getaway, consider visiting Toronto to scope out one of these major January events and jumpstart your new year.|
WHAT TO SEE: Canada’s Top Ten Film Festival, presented by TIFF
|Each Year, the Toronto International Film Festival is held, in September, to great acclaim. Originally founded in 1976, TIFF presents remarkable international films to its audience. Now hailed as the 2nd most significant film festival, after only Cannes, TIFF has evolved to feature offshoot programs as well. Cue the good stuff. Each January since 2001, TIFF presents Canada’s Top Ten Film Festival as a way to honor Canadian cinema and Canadian filmmakers. If you’re a big movie buff, the film screenings, Q&As, and on-stage events at this event are not to be missed!
This year’s 15th annual Canada’s Top Ten Film Festival runs from January 8–17, 2016. We’re not saying you have to stay the entire time, but we’re also not saying it’ll be easy to leave before it ends. On the upside, between catching the latest cinematic wonder, you can rest up at the stunning Radisson Admiral Hotel Toronto-Harbourfront. At this boutique-style hotel, you’ll soak in the breathtaking views of Lake Ontario and refuel at the hotel’s signature Watermark Restaurant.
WHAT TO SEE: Winterlicious Toronto, January 29 through February 11th
Winterlicious is a slice of foodie heaven. This event is not for the faint of heart, but instead for those who prefer to buck caution to the wind and forego the clean eating New Year’s Resolution! In all seriousness, Winterlicious Toronto is the perfect opportunity for food lovers to try many Toronto restaurants all at once. Since more than 200 of Toronto’s coveted restaurants offer great deals on standard fare during this time, you’ll be able to treat your taste buds to something new, exotic, or even just traditional.
Your contented belly will rest well at the contemporary yet comfortable Park Inn by Radisson, Toronto-Markham. There you’ll be able to utilize the free Wi-Fi to study up on your next dining spot or just relax in the hot tub or sauna.
These two events are only the tip of the iceberg. There’s much more to see and do in the bustling city of Toronto. But, for now, tell us you plan to visit Toronto this January!
